We are looking forward to working together with you and your child this year. We will update this section regularly and alert you with any updates on Class Dojo. If you have any questions please get in touch through your Class Dojo account, we are here to help.
Mrs Parker teaches Y2 supported by Mrs Ayrey our teaching assistant. Ms Azhir (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) will teach the class when Mrs Parker has her PPA time on a Tuesday afternoon.
Your child has been given a book and a reading diary to bring home and read with an adult. Whenever your child has read, please ensure the diary is dated and signed with any relevant comments. Books will be changed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Children should be reading every day for at least 10-15 minutes. They will need to keep their reading diary and book in their book bags to bring to school every day. The children will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy books throughout the week at school in class and in the library.
Each week one child will earn the award of ‘Star of the Week’ and two children will be invited to show ‘Good Work’ on a Friday at 2:30pm in celebration assembly which will take place in the school hall. You will receive a notification via the School Office to let you know when your child will take part.
The children will be doing PE on a Tuesday and Friday this half term. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school all week and that all items are clearly labelled. I would also be grateful if long hair could be tied back and earrings removed on PE and Forest School days.
Any letters or reply slips, which need to be returned, can be put in your child’s book bag. The children are expected to check them each morning and give them before the morning register.
Homework will generally be an English and Maths task but may also include topic work and research depending on what is being taught that week. It will be posted on the Class Dojo Class Story on a Friday and is expected to be submitted by the following Wednesday. The homework topics will consolidate work done during the previous week, so the children are able to complete it independently. All the class will be registered on Purple Mash so that some homework tasks can be done online.
